An Interdisciplinary Program You Can Tailor to Your Goals
Our Ph.D. in Educational Studies allows you to develop a course of study that directly and precisely relates to your interests and goals. Flexibility and interdisciplinarity are key features of the program, allowing students to refine their doctoral study plan to reflect ongoing scholarly inquiry and research.
Participate in qualitative and quantitative research, interdisciplinary seminars, and elective coursework related to your topic, with ongoing support from an advisor and doctoral committee. Independent study is also possible, with faculty within or outside of Lesley.
Key program information for the PhD Individually Designed Specialization:- Program consists of 45 credits in three program phases
- The final phase culminates in writing and presentation of the dissertation
- Students work with a senior advisor and a doctoral committee
- Classes are held late afternoons and evenings on Lesley’s Cambridge, MA, campus; online elective coursework may be available
- Prerequisite: Master’s degree or Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study

SAMPLE PROGRAM COURSE
EAGSR 7101 Quantitative Research Methods I: Statistics for Research
This course is designed to introduce graduate students to basic statistical methods and involves two broad topics: descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. In addition, students are introduced to statistical model building through the technique of regression analysis and correlational analysis. While the course centers on parametric statistical techniques, a brief introduction to non-parametric statistical methods, such as the chi-square test, is included.
