Institutional Review Board

About the IRB

The Institutional Review Board is designated to review and monitor biomedical and behavioral research involving human subjects. In accordance with the Department of Health and Human Services, an IRB has the authority to approve, require modifications in, or disapprove research. An IRB performs critical oversight functions for research conducted on human subjects that are scientific, ethical, and regulatory. The IRB is co-chaired by the Associate Provost and the Director of the Division of Research, Evaluation, and Assessment, and its members are drawn from the various schools of the University. Individuals at Lesley University conducting research involving human subjects are required to submit an application for review by the IRB.
