Smoking Policy On Cambridge CampusMassachusetts General Law Chapter 270,s22, prohibits smoking in colleges and universities generally. As a result, smoking is prohibited on all University premises. Please also avoid smoking directly in front of building entrances. For employees working or taking courses in Cambridge, the City of Cambridge ban on smoking is even broader. Pursuant to a City of Cambridge Ordinance, smoking is prohibited in all public areas of buildings. The Ordinance defines public areas as including, but not limited to, classrooms, libraries, auditoriums, dining areas, reception areas, restrooms, waiting areas, and elevators. In compliance with state and local law, and in keeping with recognized public health concerns, all indoor campus space at both Lesley campuses are designated as non-smoking. This means that smoking is not permitted in any classroom, lounge, meeting room, seminar room, library, office, dining area, or the auditorium. Lesley employees with questions or concerns about these guidelines should speak with their Human Resources Representatives. updated 10/25/02 | 01:05 PM
