Environmental Studies Programs

Lesley University offers unique programs for students pursing a deep understanding of environmental education, leadership, and advocacy. Our goal is to create experiential learning communities that inspire informed and compassionate ecological leadership.

Graduate Programs:

Urban Environmental Leadership, M.A.
The M.A. in Urban Environmental Leadership is a 32-credit program that offers students a complete picture of the urban environment and the human forces that shape it. Students investigate key subjects including urban ecology, environmental justice, urban environmental history, sustainable cities, and intentional urban development. Learn more

Ecological Teaching and Learning, M.S.
The M.S. in Ecological Teaching and Learning is a 32-credit program created to help working educators master ecological principles and integrate ecological concepts and activities into the learning process. This program is for educators working in schools, museums, nature centers, and alternative teaching settings, and blends online learning with field study and face-to-face learning. Learn more

Sustainable Practices Summer Program
Interested in Sustainable Living? Lesley University offers a three-week Sustainable Practices Summer Program, which will be held from June 1–June 22, 2009. Participants may earn six undergraduate credits exploring sustainable living in rural Maine. Put into practice ecological concepts and alternative solutions you may have heard of, but never had the chance to try. Learn more

Greening the City
Lesley University and Mass Audubon will host a two-day conference November 6–8, 2009 entitled, “Greening the City: Fostering Inspired and Innovative Leadership for Just and Sustainable Urban Communities.” Join prominent environmental thinkers and practitioners from academia, government agencies, and for-profit and non-profit organizations to discuss challenges and solutions arising from our increasingly urban world.
