The Drama minor offers students the opportunity to explore the full history of dramatic literature as well as develop skills in performance and stage production.
The Drama minor at Lesley allows students to experience the full scope of theatrical tradition, spanning from Greek Theater, to Shakespearean comedy and tragedy, to modern Broadway productions. Beyond a comprehensive education in the dramatic arts, participating students can learn the skills needed to be a performer, as well as a director or technical manager. Course topics include Voice and Acting, Movement and Improvisation, and Directing and Stage Management.
Students wishing to apply skills learned in the Drama minor are encouraged to participate in the Oxford Street Players, Lesley's Shakespearean theater troupe.
Regular reading, writing and group assignments will allow students to combine theory with practice as they direct and stage manage scenes from various plays.
A survey of theatre from Romanticism to Realism to Theatre of the Absurd to the New International Theatre. Plays are placed in their historical context with special attention paid to theatrical styles of production.
