The graduate concentration in Writing for Young People guides students in mastering the unique challenges in writing children's and YA literature.
The MFA Creative Writing program offers students the opportunity to study under award-winning faculty in the picture book, middle-grade, and young adult genres. Courses in this graduate concentration provide one-on-one instruction, workshops, and a curriculum that covers important aspects of craft and artistry. Lesley's unique interdisciplinary environment also allows students to attend courses and seminars led by some of the leading writers of adult fiction, creative non-fiction, play and screenplays, and poetry in the United States.
Past visiting writers for young people include M.T. Anderson, Jack Gantos, Robie H. Harris, Lois Lowry, and the late Maurice Sendak.
