Lesley University’s Master’s program in Expressive Therapies: Drama Therapy/Psychodrama with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling equips students with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to become an effective, qualified drama therapist. • Be eligible for the Registered Drama Therapist (RDT) credential from the North American Drama Therapy Association. • Qualify for the Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential in Massachusetts• Gain extensive and valuable field experience• Learn from leaders in the fields of drama therapy, psychodrama, and expressive therapies• Study full-time or part-time
The 60-credit Drama Therapy/Psychodrama program is ideal for those who wish to use improvisation, storytelling, role-play, performance, and other dramatic action methods to promote positive intrapersonal and interpersonal change across diverse contexts. Drama therapists and psychodramatists work in a variety of community, clinical, and forensic settings including schools, mental health clinics, hospitals, geriatric centers, and correctional facilities, as well as in private practice.
At Lesley University, Drama Therapy/Psychodrama students develop practical skills through self-reflection, collaboration with expert faculty and peers, and 1,150 hours of field experience. Direct, supervised contact with clients from a range of populations is required so that you can leave the program fully prepared for professional practice.
