The undergraduate major in Holistic Psychology is designed to provide you with a foundation in the study of psychology from a diverse and spiritual point-of-view.
You can see the bigger picture, open your mind to new ideas, and connect with the world around you. This is the program that will allow you to expand your thinking and enhance your ability to help others.
The undergraduate Holistic Psychology program is grounded in the concept that the mind, body, and spirit are integrally connected. Gain an understanding of key topics in psychology, including methodology, states of consciousness, perception, cognition, and identity.
Develop a skill set to address diverse forms of human suffering and potential and engage in larger global conversations in alternative psychology. Focusing on theories of contemplative practice and mindfulness, this BA program encourages interdisciplinary dialogues and unique perspectives on mainstream counseling strategies.
Students who major in Holistic Psychology choose a track in Art Therapy, Counseling, or Expressive Arts Therapy. They often minor in Global Studies and choose to study abroad. You will be able to choose the track that matches your talents and interests, and pursue your passion under the guidance of expert faculty mentors.
This course provides an introduction to the concepts of health and wellness with an emphasis on the impact and interaction of psychological, physical, and spiritual factors. Health is regarded as more than the absence of disease in the physical body; it is regarded as consciously cultivating beliefs and behaviors that promote wellness. Wellness depends on the ability to become a fully integrated, fully functioning person. This course provides the student with an opportunity to expand their perspective on physical, emotional and spiritual well-being and healing, and to integrate a holistic approach into their personal and professional lives. Students are encouraged to examine their own beliefs about health and wellness. Class sessions include lecture, discussion and experiential exercises.
