In the Fall of 2004 former President Margaret McKenna, recognizing the need for and the importance of a Lesley University Archives, charged Moyra Traupe, the President's Assistant, with the formation of an Archives Committee.
With the support of President McKenna, the Committee developed a plan that created a physical space for the Archives, staffed by a professional archivist to curate Lesley's historical collections.
Prompted by Lesley's centennial celebration in 2009 as well as President McKenna's departure at the end of the 2006-2007 academic year, the Lesley University Archives was officially established in January 2007 to record Lesley's unique history.
The Archives collects, preserves, and organizes Lesley's historical documents and makes them available for research by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the public.
The Archives serves the Lesley community, including the Art Institute of Boston, and strives to provide an educational environment that inspires creative teaching and learning.
