Master of Arts in Expressive Therapies with a Specialization in Mental Health Counseling (60 Credits)
For more than thirty years, the Expressive Therapies Program has embraced a curriculum which maintains a distinctive focus on training students to use the different art modalities in their practice in a range of clinical, education and human service settings. The program has steadfastly maintained this clear focus in its measured curricular responses to changing student needs and to the vicissitudes of a regulatory environment. The mental health counseling specialization is for expressive therapies' students pursuing a field in mental health counseling that requires licensure.
Pre-requisites needed to be considered for this specialization include: six credits in psychology with grades of B or better; 3 credits in abnormal psychology and 3 credits in developmental psychology.
- The specialization can be completed in 24 months (including two summer terms) or in three academic years of full time study.
- 1050 hours of field experience are required.
