Tuition Benefits

Lesley provides free and reduced tuition for full- and part-time employees, as well as some family members. Dependents may also be eligible for our Tuition Exchange Program.

    In all cases, applicable fees, PhD Degree Programs, Travel study coursework, and Personal Learning Assessment (PLA) credit are not eligible.

  • All Employees - Important

    All Employees:

    • Must be actively working and not on leave to receive the tuition remission benefit.
    • May register for classes during early and regular registration.
    • Do not count toward the minimum/maximum number of students.
    • Must pay all registration, non-tuition class fees, and room and board fees, prior to the start of class.
    • Are eligible for tuition benefits for a maximum of 2 family members (including themselves) per semester without approval.
    • In the case of termination of employment, the remission benefit will continue through the end of the semester in which the event occurs. If the event occurs before the start of the semester, the benefit will be withdrawn.
  • Full- and Benefited Part-time Employees Eligible Programs

    Undergraduate Coursework Eligible for 100% Remission

    • Undergraduate degree programs through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, (including the Adult Learning Division), and the College of Art and Design
    • Continuing Education workshops, seminars, and institutes (if the course runs for one day or less, the course will count as one-half credit of tuition remission. If more than one day, one full credit)
    • Audited Coursework (classroom based only, counts towards credit limit)
    • Undergraduate Internships, Independent study coursework, and individually guided studies

    Graduate Coursework Eligible for 75% Remission

    • Master's degree programs
    • Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) coursework
    • MFA programs (one student per cohort group)
    • Graduate Practicum/Internship Coursework
    • Counseling Psychology Clinical Practice and Supervision Seminars (GPSYC 7710-7714)
    • Independent Study/ Individually Guided Study coursework (not to exceed three courses)

    In addition to the exclusions listed in the benefit chart, dependents are not eligible for the following:

    • Continuing Education workshops, seminars and institutes

    • MFA programs
    • Self-Designed Master's Degree Program (SDMD)/Interdisciplinary Studies
    • Graduate Independent Study coursework
    • Independent Study Degree programs

    NOTE: Dependents may also be eligible for the Tuition Exchange programs listed below.

  • Eligible Dependents - Tuition Exchange

    Lesley is a participating partner in The Tuition Exchange (TE) and the Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP), allowing eligible dependents to apply for scholarships at more than 550 colleges and 300 universities.

    Eligibility

    • Faculty, administrators and support staff who are full-time Lesley employees for one full year as of September 1, or benefits-eligible part-time employees with 10 or more years of service, or an adjunct faculty with a two-year appointment, are eligible to apply for a CIC-TEP scholarship on behalf of their dependent child.
    • TE and CIC scholarships are limited to one dependent child.
    • Applicants must meet the admissions criteria for the institution to which they apply.
    • If an employee has already had one dependent complete the program, a second may not participate in the program until all other applicants have been considered.
    • Employees must maintain uninterrupted full-time service for the duration of the scholarship. In case of termination  or change in employment status, the scholarship will continue through the end of the semester in which the event occurs. If the event occurs before the start of the academic year, the scholarship will be withdrawn.

    The Tuition Exchange (TE)

    Scholarship Availability

    The number of yearly scholarships awarded to Lesley applicants remains in relative balance to the number of TE scholarships awarded by Lesley. The actual scholarship is awarded by the TE institution where the dependent child is accepted.

    What it Covers

    Either full tuition, one-half tuition for a non-resident at a public institution, or a specific rate set by The Tuition Exchange. Learn more.

    What it Doesn't Cover

    Special fees, course overloads, room and board. (Note that some colleges with lower tuition do increase their scholarship value by covering expenses such as room and/or board.)

    Eligible Programs

    TE scholarships may be awarded for full-time study to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, or transfer student for any undergraduate degree program at a member college or university.

    Council of Independent Colleges Tuition Exchange Program (CIC-TEP)

    Scholarship Availability

    Participating CIC-TEP institutions award a limited number of scholarships to students from other CIC-TEP colleges, assuming they meet admissions requirements. The scholarship is awarded by the CIC-TEP institution where the student is accepted.

    What it Covers

    Full tuition for each eligible student. Note, the awarding institution may use a student's Pell and state scholarship to offset the tuition "write-off."

    What it Doesn't Cover

    Special fees, course overloads, room and board. (Note that in addition to the CIC-TEP benefit, students may apply through the financial aid office of the host institution for additional assistance to meet these additional expenses.)

    Eligible Programs

    CIC-TEP Scholarships may be awarded for full-time study to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, or transfer student for any undergraduate degree program at a member college or university. Some schools also offer opportunities for part-time study, graduate programs, and study-abroad. See a list of participating schools and programs.

    Important Dates

    • Employeese must submit all TE and/or CIC-TEP scholarship applications to the Lesley Liaison Officer, who confirms employee eligibility, by October 31.
    • The Lesley University Liaison Officer sends all scholarship applications to aplicant schools by November 15.
    • Liaison Officers at the applicant institutions will notify the applicant of acceptance or rejection by Spring.
    • Employees must notifies the Lesley University Liaison Officer and the host institution of scholarshpi acceptance by May 15.
    • Once a dependedent has received a TE or CIC-TEP scholarship, their eligibility must be re-certified yearly by January 15.
