Art + Design Honors Seminars

Learn How to Bring Your Art to the World

Are you:

  • The type who gives 120%?
  • Self-motivated?
  • Interested in enhancing your learning through specialized projects and professional experiences?

Our Honors Seminars provide first and second year students with a unique, highly professionalized experience. In each Honors Seminar, you'll respond to a real-world public art project. This will involve researching, conceptualizing and presenting a prototype for work of public art in the Boston area. In the process, you'll have an opportunity to develop your creative skills and artistic voice!

How to Apply:

Submit an artist statement with your portfolio or submit your artist statement separately.

All students who are accepted into the College of Art & Design Honors Program are granted an additional $1,000 honors scholarship.

What's it about?
  • You'll create thumbnails, Maquettes, a proposal, and present the results to a jury of professional artists and designers.
  • You'll work with faculty, professional artists and designers as well as fellow students from different disciplines.
  • Applying is easy. Just sign up for our Foundations Honor Seminar as one of your classes.

What You'll Do
  • Engage in research and critical analysis as you develop an original prototype that reflects your voice as an artist and designer.
  • Learn various design processes and techniques that reflect a broad range of art and design practices.
  • Gain experience working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary studio setting.

To be eligible for Phi Eta Sigma, undergraduate students in any disciplines must earn at least a 3.5 GPA in their first year in college. Founded in 1923, Phi Eta Sigma is the nation's oldest and largest honor society for first-year students.
