Making the Most of Subject Searching

The advantage of a subject search is that it provides a more focused way to find information on a topic.

Its disadvantage is that it's hard to know what subject term will be used for a topic.

A good strategy is:

1. First, use your own terms in a Keyword search.
2. Then look at the records for books that are on your topic. Click "Detailed Record" to see subject headings.
3. Jot down the specific subject terms that are listed and use them later in subject searches or
4. Click on the linked subject term.
