Web Sites

Web browser tool bar The Web is the cheapest, quickest way for anyone to publish anything they want. Therefore you can find just about any kind of document on the Web: news, opinion, research, statistics, encyclopedias, company information, and much more. The real challenge is locating what you want in a largely unorganized system.

Web sites are identified by web addresses, also called URL's, that begin with "http," like in the image above.

Be sure to look at Module 5 for tips on finding information on the Web.

Use the Web to find

  • current information, like the very latest news or annual reports
  • the library's web site and the resources it offers
