stack of library books Books cover virtually any topic, fact or fiction. For research purposes, you will probably be looking for books that synthesize all the information on one topic. However you may choose to not read the whole book but only those chapters that are relevant to your topic.

In general, the books that Lesley University Libraries collect are more scholarly in content than those at an average bookstore or public library.

  • when looking for a comprehensive look at a topic
  • to put your topic in context with other important issues
  • to find historical information
  • to find summaries of research to support an argument
