Regardless of your preferred method of seeking technical assistance or problem reporting, there are certain protocols that everyone must follow in order to assure your issue is received, investigated, and resolved thoroughly and in a timely fashion.

The most BASIC information required by all technical personnel:

  • Your location
  • The time of the incident
  • Your event/class
  • The technology involved
    • Is a computer involved?
      • Is it a Lesley-owned computer or a personal computer?
      • Is this a software issue?
(e.g. windows vs. mac; office, etc)
      • Is this a hardware issue?
        (e.g. connectors, plugs, cables, etc)
    • Are there any settings or procedures that you have already tried?
(we do not expect that every client will know how to troubleshoot their issues, but answering the following questions may better help us understand your particular situation).

Facilities

To see the amenities that accompany rooms at Lesley, please visit the Registrar Office's facilities information chart. You may click here: [Facilities PDF via the Registrar]. This document contains information on room capacity, furniture, and what technology is in a classroom.

You may also see the current bookings & room availabilities by accessing [Resource25 via the Registrar].
*Please note, this service is only available on-campus.

Once you've determined that the room fits your needs and is available, submit a request via email to rooms@lesley.edu. Please include your name and best contact information, the room you'd like to reserve, the date you need the room and start/end time, a title for your event, and the number of people you expect to attend.

If you have specific questions regarding the software and equipment available, please contact University Technology directly by emailing ut@lesley.edu.

If you have questions about using specific areas as a semester classroom space, contact your scheduling coordinator.

Access

Entry to UT facilities in the Doble Building (Doble 309, 413, 415); the Mollye Lichter Block Computer Lab (Doble 301); the Wolfard Classrooms (W204, 203, 201); and Labs at University Hall (UNIV-3-084 & 3-069) requires an up-to-date Lesley University ID card (swipe access).
* If your card does not work, or you do not have an ID, please go to the Security Office.
If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Security at 617-349-8888.

University Technology strictly prohibits the use of door props (objects used to obstruct the doors' ability to properly close) as a method of preventing the use of the swipe card. Any use of door props will be reported to the Security Office.
We ask that all community members contribute to the security of rooms by closing the doors behind you.

Classrooms & Labs
Classrooms throughout the Cambridge campus are enabled with built in projection systems (black-box enabled) for presentations and Internet access. The standard I/O options provide a VGA connector, DVD/VHS playback capabilities, and a 3.5mm Stereo Audio input. In addition to technology enabled classrooms we also have Dual-Boot Mac computer labs across campus.

Kiosks
Do you just want to check your email or look at a website? Then find the nearest kiosk! These kiosk computers are located in convenient public places around the Cambridge campus so that you can check your email or surf the web on the run.

For more information about where the classrooms, labs, and kiosks are located, visit our location information page.

Scanning

UT offers text and graphics scanning on both Windows and Macintosh operating systems;
These scanners are available in a variety of locations.  Please see the Software List and Computer Information or our locations page

Backup Policy

It is University Technology's (UT) policy that lab and classroom computers are not intended as public storage. None of the lab or classroom computers are backed up. All public computers are cleaned and files purged on restart. It is the student's, staff's, and faculty's responsibility to save his/her data to his/her own media such as CD-Rs, zip disks, flash drives, etc.

Please notice:

  • None of the public computers are backed up.
  • All lab and checkout computers are cleaned on a regular basis
  • All files saved on lab and checkout computers are purged after computers are restarted.
  • It is highly recommended that you buy a flash drive or mobile hard drive to store your work.
University Technology strongly encourages a pack-in/pack-out mentality in regards to personal information on all public workstations.
Computers in the labs & classrooms are used by hundreds of students, staff, and faculty daily. In order to guarantee that all members of the community receive a fresh computing environment, we have instituted measures to assure full system integrity and have removed shared spaces that were too often left up to the discretion of the users in those areas.
If you would like suggestion on appropriate storage solutions, please feel free to contact us.
