Our students, working closely with faculty in low student to faculty ratios, enjoy hands-on learning in state-of-the art science and mathematics classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities, as well as in off campus research internships, field settings locally, regionally, and abroad, and in independent research projects. We prepare and mentor our students beyond their graduation from Lesley for graduate study or employment as professionals in their chosen fields of interest, while helping to sustain in them a lifelong passion for learning and a commitment to civic engagement.
Engaged Faculty Dedicated to Mentorship
Our diverse and talented core and adjunct faculty are skilled and creative in applying proven cutting edge exploration-based and student-focused teaching and learning practices in the classroom and in curriculum design. They work closely with students to develop teaching, mentoring, advising, and research relationships and to create a culture of collaborative inquiry and critical exploration. Our faculty are engaged as active, recognized scholars in the fields of biology (ecology, evolution, animal behavior, conservation biology, cell and molecular biology, biophysics, health), earth science (oceanography, geology), chemistry, mathematics, and the social studies of science. They are driven by a passion for the scientific and mathematical exploration of the natural world, by a commitment to teaching, mentoring, and advising the creative thinkers and leaders of the future (our students), and by a profound motivation to apply their knowledge to solve world problems.

Housed in University Hall with modern and innovative, fully equipped teaching and learning classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities and a comfortable space for informal interaction and browsing the world of Science and Mathematics, we welcome visitors to meet us, tour our facilities, and learn about our programs.
Beyond our home base in Cambridge, the world is our classroom, from the local neighborhoods of Boston and Cambridge, to the diverse habitats of New England, the jungles and savannahs of South America, and beyond. The ingredients for our work and success are 1) rigorous student-focused inquiry and active engagement in a broad array of science and math disciplines with links to the other disciplines and to real world problems, 2) small classroom and laboratory settings, with research, internship, and field experience, 3) talented faculty working together with excellent facilities, and 4) close advising and mentoring of students.
Exciting plans for the near future include expanded laboratory and curriculum offerings in modular formats, more faculty, expanded international offerings, and continuously expanding internships and research opportunities.

Guyana Lesley Abroad Service Semester
The first study abroad program in Guyana, participating students receive a rigorous and immersive education in environmental studies while engaging in cultural exchange with in the country's Yukupari villages.
