Threshold student life
An Introduction
Student life at Threshold consists of all the components that make up a student’s living experience, including: Residence Life, Programs and Activities, Leadership Opportunities, and skill building toward the end goal of Independent Living. Lesley University strives to provide the development of the whole person and Threshold’s Student Life provides a living/learning environment that assists the growing experience by filling in components beyond academic and vocational pursuits.
The live-in staff members are highly trained professionals equipped to handle the issues and concerns raised by not only young adults in a college environment but the unique set of topics faced by students in our program. Through direct contact, teachable moments, programming and mediation and mentoring the staff encourage high skill development from the students. The skills achieved by students during the course of the program are innumerable. Student Life addresses the following (but certainly not limited to) on a daily basis: peer contact including friendship and relationship development; living with others; communication; conflict management; time management; health and hygiene, fitness and wellness, opportunities to cook and clean; self-care; transportation; budgeting; and responsible decision-making.
