Transition Year – Apartment-Based Living
Transition Year is a ten month, independent-living program. It is for most graduates of the Threshold two-year core program.
Students apply the skills they learned to:
- Living in the community
- Living in their own apartment
- Having paid employment
Transition Year is the next step after a student's on-campus experience. Teaching takes place on job sites, on campus, and in students' off-campus apartments. After fulfilling the requirements of Transition Year, students earn three more college credits and a certificate.

Bridge Year - Campus-Based Living Towards Independence
Bridge Year is for a small number of graduates who need to improve their jobs skills, living independently, and social skills. Students live on campus before moving to an apartment and getting a paid job.
For nine months students learn:
- To pay rent
- Grocery shop
- Cook
- Live with other first- and second year students
- Follow the same academic calendar
For most students who complete Bridge Year successfully, the next step is Threshold's Transition Year.
