Majors

Threshold students develop a variety of skills essential for independent adulthood through practical courses and field placements. During the first year, Threshold's "career exploration" year, two male students smile at receptionstudents experience two vocational options offered by the Program: Business and Support Services and Early Childhood Studies.

During the second year, students major in one of these areas. Throughout, students are enrolled in classes along with their field placements. Classes focus on such topics as child development, lesson and activity planning for children, using office equipment, and customer service skills. Some of the workplace settings that Threshold students have experienced include: child care centers, preschools, hospital business support offices, retail businesses, city and state government offices, and non-profit agencies.

In Advising Class students share the challenges and successes they experience in their vocational placements. It is also the time when the advisor can help students to develop skills relevant to their major as well as communication and decision-making skills, and work habits.
