Graduation
Upon completion of the two year program, students receive certificates of completion and six college credits at a formal graduation ceremony, held each year in May at Lesley University. In addition to graduating students and their families, the ceremony is also attended by the President of the University, a representative from the University's Board of Trustees, the founder of the Threshold Program, Threshold faculty and staff, and alumni. Each graduation features a speaker who addresses the graduates on their many accomplishments and offers advice on the challenges ahead. Recent guest speakers include Robert Carbtree, Esq., Dr. Robert Desimone, Director of the McGovern Institute at MIT, Paul Reville, Secretary of Education, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, researcher and adult with a LD, Dr. Annette Jenner, and LD expert and author, Dr. Larry Silver. The majority of graduates apply to enroll in Threshold's Transition Year, a ten-month outreach program which offers support as graduates put to full-time practical use the vocational and independent living skills learned in their course work. The Transition Year culminates in students receiving a certificate of completion of their Threshold postgraduate studies and three additional college credits. Other Threshold graduates may participate in the nine-month Bridge Program where they live on campus, take courses to further develop their vocational and independent living skills, and spend much of the week working at their vocational placements. Many graduates of the Bridge Program apply to participate in Transition Year.
