Real World Experience
Lesley University's emphasis on theory and practice ensures that students have a real understanding of the professional requirements necessary to succeed in their chosen careers. Theoretical learning emphasizes multiple ways of knowing; historical, psychological, analytical. Classroom discussions, readings and research provide a solid theoretical foundation.
Students then turn this knowledge into a usable form by applying it in real world settings through internships, field placements, and practicums. Field-based teacher mentors support student success during their program and create significant post-graduate networking opportunities.
Lesley's programs meet the educational and field placement requirements of the following accrediting or licensing bodies:
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Master's in Psychology Accreditation Council
- American Art Therapy Association
- American Music Therapy Association
- American Dance Therapy Association
- National Association of Drama Therapy
Supporting Student Success
"Theoretical knowledge provides a foundation but this knowledge must be molded into a usable form that can be applied to real-world problem solving."
