Steven Cramer, Associate Professor and Director of the MFA program in Creative Writing, was one of six fellows selected to receive a $10,000 Artist Fellowship in Poetry from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Two hundred and eighty Massachusetts poets applied for the fellowship. The work Steven submitted for the fellowship comprised excerpts from his most recent book of poems, Clangings, published by Sarabande Books.
The Massachusetts Cultural Council's Artist Fellowships recognize exceptional work by Massachusetts artists across a range of disciplines. These highly competitive awards provide artists crucial validation among their peers and the public.
Past artist fellows include authors Jonathan Franzen, Gish Jen, and Tim O'Brien, as well as former U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky. In addition to fellowships, the Massachusetts Cultural Council supports artists through its various funding programs and services.
