Linda Mensing Triplett
Linda Mensing Triplett, Ed.D., focuses her teaching and research on two topics of interest: curriculum design to integrate technology, and technology-based assessment. She designed a new course entitled "Assessment and Technology" for the TIE department in Spring 2003, working collaboratively with a group of adjunct professors to build both the online and weekend versions of this new course. As part of her interest in curriculum development, Dr. Triplett explored a range of server-based technical tools that facilitate online collaborative course design, and has made presentations on this topic for Microsoft Corporation, and at the AACTE conference. Dr. Triplett has also worked to align all TIE courses with professional teaching standards in the states where TIE courses are offered.
During the summer of 2003, Dr. Triplett was the Academic Adviser and instructor for Project LIFT2 (Leadership Initiative for Teaching and Technology). As part of the LIFT2 project, secondary science and math teachers completed externships with corporations to learn about the 21st century technical skills students will need to enter the world of work. Those same teachers then worked with Dr. Triplett to design curriculum that incorporates these important skills. Also passionate about educational website design, Dr. Triplett is working to implement web-based electronic portfolios for TIE students, and has done numerous presentations at conferences on the topic of creating educational websites. The design and technical implementation of online courses is an area of interest, and Dr. Triplett is working on several articles on this topic.
