Ray Medeiros May Have Retired But He's Busier Than EverRay Medeiros taught Social Studies for 24 years and was the Director of Technology and Integration for 14 years in the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District in Massachusetts. He earned his undergraduate degree in Education at Providence College and his Master's degree in Technology in Education at Lesley University. Since Ray's recent retirement from full-time technology responsibilities in the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District, he has managed to stay quite busy. Ray has started a small digital video business, Digital By Design; become active in volunteer work with the integration of technology at his son's elementary school; and continues to refine the curriculum for the Lesley courses he teaches. In addition, Ray does some consulting work as a technology advisor to the Dighton-Rehoboth High School Building committee. Ray has been a Lesley adjunct faculty member since 1993 and greatly enjoys the ability to share his experiences with cohort groups across the country.
Ray currently teaches ECOMP 5106 - Integrating Technology into the School Curriculum and ECOMP 7007 - Telecommunications: Curriculum In A Global Context for Lesley. You can see a sample of his website that provides an online syllabus, required and recommended readings, project descriptions and rubric links for all graded assignments. The website can be found at http://www.lesley.edu/faculty/rmedeiro/home.htm /home.htm/ In the last few years, Ray published two articles. They are: Validation Video's Value: The Making of a School Oriented Video, Multimedia Schools, Vol.9, No.5, 2002 and Just Say Yes to Technology, Creative Classroom, Vol.14, No.1, 1999. On the home front, Ray's oldest son is a freshman at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, and his youngest son is an active third grader. The winter months have allowed Ray to do some woodworking, a fun hobby, and he is also trying to keep in shape at the local gym for golf season. Ray values his Lesley teaching. He wrote, "I truly enjoy working with teachers around the country and find that working for Lesley has given me a great opportunity to give back to the profession some of my experience. It is personally rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable. I look forward to each and every class and the prospect of a good exchange with teachers all over the country."
