Technology in Education Goals and Objectives

Each year, the Technology in Education program at Lesley University attracts teachers from throughout the country who become leaders in educational technology in their schools and school systems. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in the application of educational technology either as classroom teachers, instructional technology teachers, technology directors, educational researchers, or curriculum developers. In preparing educators for the appropriate and creative use of technology in the classroom, the program reflects a deep commitment to education reform and action-oriented research.

Program Goals

  1. Enhance learning for all children through the appropriate use of technology in the classroom.
  2. Develop leaders in technology in education who will have an impact on public policy.
  3. Use technology as a catalyst for educational reform.

Program Objectives

  1. Reflect on classroom practices in order to use technology effectively, appropriately, and with vision.
  2. Draw upon appropriate curriculum frameworks to plan lessons and activities that integrate technology.
  3. Work with cutting-edge technology to enhance classroom practices.
  4. Promote an educational philosophy in which technology is fully integrated into the curriculum through active, student-centered learning.
  5. Prepare teachers to become leaders in the educational applications of technology and to keep pace with changing technology.
  6. Work with schools to integrate technology into K-12 classrooms and develop new collaborative models.
  7. Prepare teachers to offer professional development and provide consultation to school personnel in improving student learning through the appropriate use of technology.
