Center for Academic Achievement

  • The Center for Academic Achievement offers free MTEL Tutoring for Communication and Literacy Skills test (only for Lesley students/alumni) and other resources for academic support.

Disability Services at Lesley

  • Students with documented disabilities can contact the Disability Services Office. You may request alternative testing arrangements because of a disability or religious reasons by reviewing the Alternative Testing Arrangements section in the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure Booklet.

Freeman, D. and Freeman, Y. (2004). Essential linguistics. What you need to know to teach.  Portsmouth, N.H.:  Heinemann. This book is good for information on theory.

Peregoy, S. and O. Boyle. (2005).4th edition. Reading, writing and learning in ESL.  New York: Allyn & Bacon. This book will give you the classroom strategies you need for the test.

Supporting English Language Learners in Mainstream Classrooms, Deborah Horan, Boston College Title III Project. [pdf] A 12 page pamphlet with information for all educators about teaching ELL. The pamphlet contains valuable resources, both books in print and links to websites.
