Lesley University MTEL Preparation Workshops

Designed to help students prepare for the MTEL exam, workshops cover some content, practice questions, test-taking strategies, and resources for further individual study and preparation. The workshops (except for the new Math General Curriculum) are offered as a free support service for Lesley University matriculated students, alumni and recent applicants. Individuals not affiliated with Lesley may register and attend workshops (except Math GC) for a fee. Please register for workshops using the links below. Walk-ins will be accepted on a space-available basis. Please call 617.349.8427 for more information.

MTEL Preparation Workshop Schedule

Registration: Please register as indicated above.
Times and dates: Workshops are offered 5 times per calendar year--usually before every full-day, standard MTEL testing cycle. Dates and times are posted accordingly.
Location: Workshops are held in University Hall, formerly called Porter Exchange Building, 1815 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge (next to Porter Square).
Details: Booklets and materials will be distributed at the workshop; just bring something to write with, and a notepad if you like. There are short breaks during most workshops (except Early Childhood). Food and snacks are available from first floor and local eateries, vending machines, or bring your own if you prefer.
Weather Cancellations: In the event that a workshop is canceled because of severe weather conditions, please check the Lesley University homepage and click on the link for Inclement Weather Operation Status. Also, we will make every effort to send registrants a weather cancellation email. Please make sure to check your email accounts!

General Curriculum

NEW! Math General Curriculum Online Diagnostic (a free service - for Lesley students only)

  • A two-hour, timed 47 question diagnostic tool that covers math knowledge required for passing the General Curriculum MTEL math subtest.
  • The diagnostic is designed to help students determine whether, and in what areas, they may need extra help.
  • Completion of the Math General Curriculum Diagnostic is a prerequisite for the Math General Curriculum Workshop (see below).
TO REGISTER: All students must fill out registration form for EDIAG 5000 01and return to registrar's office by mail, email, fax, or in-person.  There is still time to take the diagnostic and register for the workshop.

NEW! Math General Curriculum Workshop (for Lesley students only; $100 fee for Lesley students)

  • A 16-hour workshop with four 4-hour sessions, 8:00 am - 12 noon in University Hall, Room 3-094 that meets on the following Saturdays:
    • September 13, Numbers & Operation Part 1
    • September 27, Numbers & Operations Part 2, Statistics & Probability
    • November 1, Geometry & Measurement
    • November 8, Functions & Algebra
  • Students are required to register for all four sessions for a $100 fee. Any missed sessions may be made up the following term at no charge.
  • Prerequisite to the workshop is the ONLINE MATH DIAGNOSTIC (see above) or the paper version of the diagnostic that was piloted in the Fall 2007.
TO REGISTER: All students must fill out registration form for EWKSP 5600 01and return to registrar's office by mail, fax, or in-person with $100 payment included. There is still time to take the diagnostic and register for the workshop.
