Educational Leadership Programs

Inspiring imagination and nurturing practitioner-scholars to construct knowledge, reflect, be courageous, redefine leadership, and redesign schools

Lesley University's Educational Leadership programs are designed for experienced practitioners who are either currently in leadership roles or who desire to move into leadership positions in schools or other education-related institutions. The programs draw on faculty expertise in leadership, organizational development, research, translating theory into practice, developing theory based on practice, curriculum development, assessment, instruction, collaboration, communication, coaching, and reflection. Graduates will be prepared as educational leaders who can be change agents, with the knowledge, skills, and commitments to initiate, guide, direct, and support the large-scale, continuous improvement of teaching and learning and conditions in which they occur.

Participants in any of Lesley’s Educational Leadership programs will benefit from unique program features, including:

  • Blended program format. Coursework is provided in a combination of face-to-face weekend workshops (1-4 days) and online. Core courses do not require weekly on campus class attendance.
  • Supportive learning environment. Students meet as a cohort, which consists of students pursuing multiple areas of specialization and degree options.
  • Added value. M.Ed. and CAGS programs offer value-added possibilities for your professional teaching license or for adding another teaching license.
  • Alignment with state standards. Program outcomes are aligned with the new Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Standards for School Leaders.

PLEASE NOTE: Beginning September 1, 2009, all new applicants seeking admission to an initial license program must submit evidence of having taken, or registered for, the Communication and Literacy Skills Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL). Effective Fall, 2010, all students seeking a first initial license must pass all portions of the MTEL(s) required for their licensure program to be eligible for student teaching or practicum.

We offer the following Educational Leadership programs:
