Study abroad general overview

Where do I begin?

A good place to start is with the Choosing a program form [doc]. After you read through this information you should begin to research different programs, Lesley Affiliated and Non-Affiliated.

Once you have a general idea of where you would like to go and a few program options, set up a MANDATORY meeting with the Study Abroad/Away Advisor. To do so, please complete the preliminary information form [doc] and email it to lcexchange@lesley.edu or call 617-868-9600 x2306 to schedule an appointment.

As early as possible, begin talking about your study abroad/away plans with your Academic Advisor. This will help you to start thinking about what courses you can take abroad/away and to make sure you stay on track for graduation.

How much will it cost?

Program costs can vary by program, country of study, and length of program. Contact Lesley’s Office of Study Abroad/Away for the latest costs or visit your specific program’s website.  Do not let costs deter you. Often all or a portion of your Financial Aid package is applicable for study abroad. For more information on Financial Aid, go to Lesley’s Office of Financial Aid. Also please take a look at our external funding resources information.

What is the difference between Lesley Affiliated and Non-Affiliated Programs?

If a program is a Lesley Affiliated program, this means that the student will pay tuition to Lesley and likely all of their Financial Aid and Scholarships will be portable. Consult the list of Lesley's Study Abroad/Away Affiliates [doc].

If a program is a Non-Affiliated program then the student will pay tuition directly to the program and most likely only their Federal Aid will be portable.

Again, for further Financial Aid information and to check the details of your specific aid package please visit the Office of Financial Aid. Also for a list of current Lesley affiliated programs please visit the Study Abroad main page. This page will also list non-affiliated programs students have attended in the past; however this list is not comprehensive.

For further information about these two types of programs please contact the Study Abroad/Away office at lcexchange@lesley.edu or at 617-868-9600 x2306.

What if I have more questions?
