RESIDENCE LIFE POLICIESResidential Alcohol PolicyStudents of legal age may consume alcohol in resident rooms and common areas in the residence halls. Students who choose to consume alcohol are expected to do so in a responsible manner, respecting the rights of other Lesley University students and community members. Host students are responsible for the conduct of their guests, who must also comply with University rules and regulations. Kegs, beer balls, etc. are only permitted with advance written authorization by the Dean of Student Life and Academic Development or designee. Students who wish to host parties in the residence halls where alcohol will be served must register with the Dean and must comply with University guidelines for school-sanctioned events involving alcohol. Party hosts are responsible for guests' behavior. Right of Entry & SearchThe Residence Life staff will respect the privacy of student rooms. However, the University staff, including CAs, reserve the right to enter a student's room to provide for the health, safety and general well being of the University community and its property.
SolicitationNo solicitation is permitted on campus or within the residence halls without prior written permission from the Office of Residence Life. Fire SafetyIn the event of fire, sound the nearest fire alarm and contact the hall CA or RD. Intentional misuse of any University fire-safety equipment is prohibited. All students must promptly vacate any residence hall when a fire alarm is sounded. Intentionally delaying, obstructing, or resisting any University personnel or firefighter in the performance of his or her duty is prohibited. Community AdvisorsCommunity Advisors work with students to develop a sense of community within the residence halls. They serve as community builders, mediators, peer mentors, and resource persons. The CAs work with the students and Community Council to sponsor programs and facilitate residence hall community meetings. Community CouncilsThe Community Council establishes the norms and expectations by which the community agrees to live. The Community Council works with the CAs to sponsor social programs within the residence halls. In addition, the Community Council works with the residents of the community to resolve some kinds of misconduct, including noise disputes, dorm damage, pets and misuse of housing facilities. Community Councils function as mediative bodies rather than punitive ones. If they are unsuccessful in resolving a dispute, they may elect to send the dispute to the Dean of Student Life and Academic Development or designee. updated 02/07/06 | 05:37 PM
