Optional Practical Training (OPT)

Optional Practical Training (OPT) is employment in a job that is directly related to a student's field of study. OPT may be done while a student pursues his/her degree or during the year following graduation. OPT is limited to a total of 12 months. International students who seek to work off campus using OPT are guided through the application process by attending an employment workshop conducted by the Director of ISS. Individualized appointments are also offered to students who are seeking more specific guidance in other types of off-campus work authorization.

H-1B Workshop

The H-1B visa is a temporary worker visa that is designed for individuals who want to work temporarily in the United States to perform services in a specialty occupation. An immigration attorney is brought to campus annually to conduct a free workshop and provide information for Lesley and AIB students who might be interested in obtaining an H-1B visa after graduation.

Tax Workshop

During the spring semester, ISS sponsors a free tax workshop to help international students from Lesley and AIB file their US taxes. The facilitator of the tax workshop guides international students on how to fill out the appropriate tax forms and where to mail them.
