Colleague Basic Training

This class is designed for staff and faculty who are new to Colleague. The content includes an overview of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); uses of the Colleague Student System; best practices; navigating the system; looking up information on people and courses; reading basic inquiry screens; and where to go for help. Please note that this is a basic "how-to" on the Student System only; this class does not cover tasks/processes specific to particular positions on campus, nor does it cover the Colleague Financial or Human Resources Systems.

Users of either Windows or Macintosh platforms may attend any session listed below.

• Supervisors will cover task-specific training.
• Work study and Lesley work program workers will be trained by their supervisors, and need not attend this basic navigation training.
• For Colleague Financial training, please contact Karen Baytch in the Finance Office.

The prerequisite for this class is a completed Colleague Database Access Request Form, submitted by your supervisor. Please visit the UT Colleague Page to find out how to request your account and download a form.

If it is impossible for you to attend any one of these training sessions, contact the Colleague basic training group to see if a one-to-one training session can be arranged. Please note that this is done only in exceptional circumstances.

If more than three people in your department require basic navigation training at the same time, it is possible to set up a special training session. Please contact the basic training group.

You will receive a confirmation of your registration via email. If you do not receive an email confirming your registration, check with the basic training group at least a week prior to your session to be sure your registration was successful. If you have registered for a class and a change is made to the schedule, you will be notified via email.
