Why don't my grades in the myLesley gradebook show on LOIS?
myLesley and LOIS are independent systems. LOIS is essentially a Colleague database interface, and Colleague is where grades must be recorded to appear on the student's academic record. When can I access LOIS to enter grades?
The system is accessible throughout the semester, however, final grades may only be entered for courses that have ended.
How secure is the system? Can anyone else access or update my grade roster on LOIS?
The grade list is linked to the instructor's username in order to store the electronic signature and ensure the security of the system. Safeguard your password and do not share the information to protect your account on LOIS.
The course I taught isn't listed on the grading menu. How can I access my class list to enter grades?
Your name may not have been listed in the instructor's name field. Please click on the Registrar's link at the bottom of the screen to send an email, so your username can be linked to the class list. A staff member from the Office of the University Registrar will contact the department and notify you once the update has been made, so that you may access your grade sheet.
Will paper grade sheets still be printed?
As of the summer 2005 semester, paper grade sheets will no longer be printed.
A student doesn't appear on the roster, but has attended throughout the semester. How can I add the student and assign the appropriate grade?
If a student’s name does not appear on the online roster, click on the link at the bottom of the grading page to submit the student’s grade. Students who do not appear on the roster have not been officially registered and must contact the Office of the University Registrar to register and receive their final grades. Submitting grades via the Web Grading link will record the students’ names and grades for future internal reference within the Office of the University Registrar.
One of the grades entered and updated on LOIS is incorrect. How can I update the student's record to reflect the correct grade?
A grade change form must be submitted to correct the student's grade. Please follow standard procedures for submission of grade change forms.
A student appears on my grade roster, but stopped attending after the drop deadline; what grade should be entered?
AW (Administrative Withdrawal) should be assigned to students who have attended a portion of the course and who have stopped attending, but who have not officially dropped the course by the conclusion of the semester. You must also enter the last date of attendance in the column marked for that information.
A student appears on my grade roster, but never attended; what grade should be entered?
NA (Never Attended) should be assigned to students who are officially registered for the course and whose name appears on the grade roster, but who have never attended the class.
When is the deadline for grade submission on LOIS?
Please refer to the Academic Calendar to view grading deadlines. Grades for students in hybrid, online, and off-campus courses are due 15 days after the final date of the course. The exact due date for any course can also be found on your LOIS class or grade roster.
My class is team taught; will both instructors be able to access the on-line grade roster?
Yes, multiple faculty members can view the grade roster and enter grades, as long as all faculty are listed on the course section in Colleague. However, one faculty member cannot change grades entered by another faculty member.
One of my students hasn't completed all necessary coursework, due to circumstances beyond her/his control; what needs to be done to assign an incomplete grade?
"I" grades may be assigned on-line, however, faculty members must comply with the specific school/college policies for assigning incomplete grades. Please check the Academic Catalog for guidelines and information on submission of incomplete course contracts to your school/college and/or program office.
Can I enter grade changes using LOIS?
No. Paper grade change forms must be submitted to the appropriate offices under the following conditions:
- For academic-grade-to-academic-grade changes, submit the form to your department/dean.
- For incomplete-to-academic-grade changes, submit the form to the Office of the University Registrar.
How soon after I've entered grades can students view their grades online?
LOIS operates in "real time:" once grades are entered and submitted, the students can view their grades immediately by accessing their LOIS account.
A student has contacted me with a question about grade information. How can I verify my entries on the system?
The grading screen can be accessed after grades have been entered to review and verify entries.
