State grants and scholarships

Many states provide grant assistance to bachelor degree students. Students must meet their state's application deadline and financial aid eligibility requirements. Although Lesley University may anticipate state scholarship eligibility on a student's financial aid award letter, students will be notified of their actual award by their state's grant/scholarship office.

Through agreements with the following state grant agencies funds from the following states may be disbursed to students attending Lesley University. If you have questions regarding your grant eligibility from your home state, please contact your resident state higher education office.

Massachusetts Specific Funds:

MASSGrant:

Need-based state grants awarded to undergraduate students. The student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credits per semester). The FAFSA must be filed by May 1st (preceding the beginning of the award year) to be considered for the MASSGrant Program.

Your award letter may indicate an estimate of MassGrant eligibility if Lesley University anticipates you will receive this award (for Massachusetts residents only). Please note that the Massachusetts Office of Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) notifies students who are eligible for a MassGrant and Lesley University is responsible to verify that eligibility.

If you fail to meet the application deadline for a MassGrant, Lesley University grant funding will not replace the forfeited funds. In addition, if OSFA stipulates that you need to make changes to your application data in order to be eligible and you fail to meet the deadline for corrections, Lesley University grant funding will not replace the forfeited funds.

Massachusetts Part-Time Grant:

State grant awarded to students enrolled at least half-time (at least 6 credits per semester) in an undergraduate program and who meet the criteria established by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and institutional policy.

Early Childhood Educators Scholarship:

The Early Childhood Educators Scholarship is designed to help currently employed Early Childhood Educators further their education and training. To be eligible for these funds, students must be Massachusetts residents in an undergraduate program and must apply for these funds with OSFA. Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant:

The Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant is designed to help defray the educational costs for currently employed Paraprofessionals who are seeking to become full-time, certified teachers. To be eligible for these funds, students must be Massachusetts residents in an undergraduate program and must apply for these funds with OSFA. FUNDING FROM OTHER STATES:

The Lesley University Office of Financial Aid is unable to predict state grant eligibility if you meet residential requirements outside of Massachusetts. Please note that state grants and scholarships may be awarded to you by the state in which you have met residency requirements. Upon confirmation of your eligibility for non-MA, need-based state grant awards, your Lesley institutional grant funding will be reduced by the exact amount of the state need-based grant awarded to you.
