Loan Exit Counseling
All Stafford Loan borrowers must complete Loan Exit Counseling (also known as the Exit Interview) when they graduate, withdraw, or cease to be enrolled at least a half-time as defined by their academic program. The Exit Interview informs you of your rights, responsibilities, and terms of repayment on your loan. You may complete this requirement online or via the mail.
If you completed the requirements (Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling) for your Stafford Loans at Lesley University before December 11, 2008, you probably borrowed a loan through a private lender. If you completed your requirements after that date, you borrowed through the Federal Direct Loan program. Many students graduating from Lesley University have borrowed both types of Stafford Loans.
The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) has developed an Exit Counseling process that will help you understand your federal loans, whether they were borrowed through the Department of Education or a private lender.
