financial aid for study abroad - non-lesley program
If you are taking part in a program not sponsored by Lesley University:
- You must apply for Financial Aid by the usual April 1st deadline by filling out the FAFSA, and providing any further information (such as tax documents) that the Financial Aid Office requests.
- You will also need to complete a consortium agreement, which has sections to be filled out by you, your Lesley academic advisor, and the host institution.
- The only funds you may be eligible for, depending on your demonstrated financial need, are a Federal Stafford Loan (subsidized and/or unsubsidized) and a Federal Pell Grant.
- You will not be eligible for any Lesley University Funding, for the Federal SEOG or Federal Work-Study, or for any state funding (MassGrant, Gilbert Grant, Mass No Interest Loan, or funding from any state other than Massachusetts), so please check your Financial Aid Award Letter to see if these are funds on which you rely.
- If you study abroad for only one semester, you will be eligible for your full range of funding for the semester that you are on campus at Lesley.
- If you need additional funding beyond what is offered in your Financial Aid Award Letter, you or your parent(s) can apply to private lenders for alternative student loans. Contact information for private student loan lenders is available in the Financial Aid Office.
- You will not be charged any tuition, fees, or other charges by Lesley University.
- You will be responsible for paying your tuition, fees, room, board, and travel expenses. You can use your Financial Aid to help cover these expenses, but Lesley University will send the funds to you at your home address, not to the host institution.
- Please clarify with the Financial Aid Office when your funds will be available to you. Depending on your program’s payment deadlines, you may need to make other payment arrangements first, then use your Financial Aid to reimburse yourself.
Questions? Please don’t hesitate to contact the Financial Aid Office by phone at 1-800-999-1959 ext. 8581, or via email at finaid@lesley.edu.
