financial aid for study abroad - lesley-affilitated programs
If you are taking part in a Lesley University-Affiliated program (Please see an up-to-date list of these programs on the Study Abroad Opportunities page):
- You must apply for Financial Aid by the usual April 1st deadline by filling out the FAFSA, and providing any further information (such as tax documents) that the Financial Aid Office requests.
- If you have met the application deadline, you will be eligible for the same Federal, state and Lesley University funding for which you would be eligible if you were living on campus, with the exception of Federal Work-Study funding.
- If you study abroad for only one semester, you will be eligible for your full range of funding for the semester that you are on campus at Lesley.
- If you need additional funding beyond what is offered in your Financial Aid Award Letter, you or your parent(s) can apply to private lenders for alternative student loans. Contact information for private student loan lenders is available in the Financial Aid Office.
- You will be charged Lesley College or Art Institute of Boston tuition, and the Lesley University Student Accounts Office will take care of transferring your tuition payment to the host institution.
- You will be responsible for paying your room, board, and travel expenses. You can use your Financial Aid to help cover these expenses, but Lesley University will send the funds to you at your home address, not to the host institution.
- Lesley University will only send Financial Aid funds, including alternative loans, to you if your funds exceed the amount needed to pay your tuition.
- Please clarify with the Financial Aid Office when your funds will be available to you. Depending on your program’s payment deadlines, you may need to make other payment arrangements first, then use your Financial Aid to reimburse yourself.
Questions? Please don't hesitate to contact the Financial Aid Office by phone at 1-800-999-1959 ext. 8581, or via email at finaid@lesley.edu.
