women's basketballHead Coach Dan Hunt
Dan Hunt – Head coach (2nd Year) Head coach Dan Hunt, with nine years of coaching experience behind him, relishes the chance to help turn around yet another program. Coach Hunt expects to improve on last season’s 7-18 finish, when he saw amazing growth in all phases of the program. His commitment to discipline, hard work, and high expectations make him a young coach who players have come to respect and enjoy. Hunt commented, “I love that we are able to put our mark on this program, as I have no doubt that we can build a national contender here at Lesley. With the talent we return, and the amazing class that we brought in, success should come this year.” Coach Hunt is no stranger to building programs, as he has worked as an assistant coach at Framingham State College, a head coach at Lasell College, and an assistant coach at Division I Northeastern University. In each instance, he was involved in building a program that improved impressively. His Framingham State squad defeated a top-25 team and both the Lasell and Northeastern teams reached their conference semi-finals. Along the way, Coach Hunt worked with multiple players who achieved individual honors, one of whom is currently a professional player in Italy. Coach Dan Hunt is excited to begin another year here at Lesley, where he feels, “The administration cares so deeply about it student-athletes and coaches.” His experience, drive, and respect for his students should help to achieve great things with the Lesley Lynx. A former professional basketball player in Norway, and a graduate of Bridgewater State College, where he is still the school’s fourth leading scorer and a former three-time all conference performer, Coach Hunt also teaches K-8th grade Physical Education in the Carlisle Public School system. He currently resides in Waltham with his wife Jean, and their two children. Assistant Coach Tom FayTom Fay - Asst. Coach (2nd Year) Assistant Coach Tom Fay, Massachusetts Coaches Association High School Coach of the Year in 1999, has brought his untiring work ethic and his winning background to Lesley University, and it has already paid dividends. A whiz at recruitment and player development, Coach Fay contributes much to the Lynx team. In addition, he is also adept at scouting team management. Although Fay has burst onto the college scene, success has always been near in his other coaching endeavors. Aside from the Coach of the Year award in basketball and a league, as well as North Sectional Championship that year, Fay has also coached baseball with great success. He owns fourteen championships at different levels, and he is deeply rooted in teaching the fundamentals. It is this same approach that has made him an invaluable member of the staff, and one who Head Coach Dan Hunt hopes will be with him for years to come, as he says, "Tom makes things easy for me, as he allows me to focus on what I need to. He is very involved in all that we do, and he is passionate about building this team into a perennial winner. There is no doubt in my mind that we will do this in short order, as our recruiting base is getting broader due to the work he has done to get our name out there." Coach Fay is currently a History teacher in the Bedford Public School system. He received a BA in American Studies at Notre Dame, and he is working towards a Masters Degree at Salem State College. updated 11/06/07 | 02:08 PM
