Head Coach Kate McGravey

Coach Kate McGravey is in her first year of coaching the Lesley University rowing program. She is very excited to pick up where Coach Rudov left off and increase the size and competitiveness of the program. For the past year, Coach McGravey has been coaching for Lowell High School rowing and helping out with the women’s summer program.

Originally from Buffalo, NY, Coach McGravey began her rowing career on the Nardin Academy lightweight team. After graduation, she coxed for Duquesne University‘s Division I team. While at Duquesne, she learned a lot about up-and-coming programs. She became very involved in the program and often helped out at novice practices once she moved up to varsity. Coach McGravey was a member of the novice four that won the gold at MACRA’s in 2003 and went on to race at Dad Vails. Coach McGravey also won many medals as a varsity team member including gold at Head of the Speakmon (2003) and The Marietta Invitational (2006). She also coxed for the Heinz Corporate Team and helped cox and coach the Mellon Corporate Team during summer camps.

In addition to Duquesne’s team, Coach McGravey was involved in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, after school tutoring programs, and some other clubs and programs at Duquesne. She was a member of the Atlantic-10 Honor Roll and was elected to the A-10 Academic All-Conference Team (2005). Coach McGravey studied Psychology and English Literature. She is currently a full-time graduate student at the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology.
