In this one day workshop, participants will become familiar with the principles and practices of the Reggio Emilia Approach to early childhood education. Participants will spend time in a Reggio-inspired classroom, listen to a presentation, and discuss the approach. This workshop will highlight how the principles and practices are implemented in a preschool and kindergarten classroom, the teacher workspace, and the school environment. This workshop is ideal for early childhood educators who are new to the Reggio Emilia Approach.

WORKSHOP: Saturday, January 22, 2011 (tentative date): A Deeper Look at Projects in the Reggio Emilia Approach: Comparing Projects with a Thematic Approach Ideal for educators who have attended a basics workshop or who already have a basic understanding of the Reggio Emilia Approach.
ANNUAL REGGIO EMILIA INSTITUTE: A Focus on Documentation: Saturday, May 7 - Sunday, May 8, 2011, with a Pre-Institute on Friday, May 6, 2011.
Pre-institute will focus on discussion with educators from Greater Boston on use of documentation to promote vibrant cultures of learning and communication in classrooms and schools. The institute will focus on discussing strategies for conceptualizing and creating documentation in programs. Lella Gandini, U.S. Liaison for The Dissemination of The Reggio Emilia Approach, will offer reflections and commentary. Pre-Institute: $140; Institute Only: $300; Pre-Institute and Institute: $400 (NAREA Members deduct 10 percent).
