The Pre-Institute Friday, April 27, 2012 is designed a specifically to meet the needs of those working with infants and toddlers and includes separate sessions for those working with preschool children. The focus of the Pre-Institute is Learning Through Materials and Relationships: Infants, Toddlers and Preschool Children.

The theme of the Institute Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29, 2012 is Sustaining Inquiry: Everyday Experiences and Extended Projects with Children. As a special event, Dr. Lella Gandini, Liaison for Dissemination of the Reggio Emilia Approach in the United States and Visiting Professor at Lesley University, will open the Sunday Program with a talk titles Inquiry into the Development of Literacy in Preschools and Elementary Schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. This talk will be followed by sessions focusing on Literacy in some schools in the United States.
