ANTICIPATED PROJECTS
ART INSTITUTE
On June 22, 2009, the Cambridge City Council voted to adopt a zoning change that would allow The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University to relocate to Cambridge from its current location in Kenmore Square in Boston, creating the foundation of an arts district in Porter Square. The proposal includes the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility for The Art Institute of Boston (AIB) on Lesley's Porter Campus and the adaptive re-use and restoration of the historic former North Prospect Church. Although a construction schedule has not yet been determined, a website with more information about the project has been developed:

DOBLE CAMPUS
Founders and Stebbins Halls (29 and 31 Everett)

Lesley University is upgrading systems at the wood-framed portion of 29 Everett Street (the President and Provost offices / Edith Lesley House).
The renovations will include a new ADA ramp on the east side of the building with a wheelchair-accessible entrance; a new high-efficiency boiler and improved heating and air conditioning (with acoustic barrier fencing to enclose the exterior AC compressor unit on the west side of the building, in compliance with the Cambridge Noise Ordinance); updated lighting; updated electrical distribution, replacing archaic wiring; modifications to bathrooms and kitchenettes; and fire alarm and sprinkler improvements.
The project does not involve any significant reconfigurations of interior rooms or spaces, nor any change in how Lesley uses the building. The project is scheduled to be completed in December.
PORTER CAMPUS
815 Somerville
Currently, University Technology (UT) is housed on the lower level of University Hall in space that is earmarked for the AIB relocation. The 2nd floor of 815 Somerville Ave. is being renovated to prepare it for the relocation of UT. In addition, minor renovations to the space on the 3rd floor are proceeding.

Bourbon Coffee, University Hall
Construction activity is nearing completion. The grand opening is anticipated in November.
Relamping of University Hall
Operations is working with Procurement on a project to re-lamp many of the major buildings in the University. This project will provide ongoing energy savings that will exceed $100,000 per year by installing modern, efficient lighting. NSTAR, the utility supplier for the University, will also provide a one-time rebate of $100,000 for this project because the amount of energy they must generate will be reduced by 800,000 KWH each year. This project takes advantage of the exceptional prices for lamps and ballasts resulting from an agreement recently signed between Lesley and the Boston Consortium.
BOSTON CAMPUS
