The Creative Arts in Learning
Division conducted a study to research the effectiveness of arts in
education. The study, funded by the Ford Foundation and entitled Voices From the Field,
was designed to explore the impact of the Integrated
Teaching Through the Arts Master's program, which has produced more than
10,000 graduates and is offered in 23 states.
Graduates report
that using the arts can provide multiple and stimulating points of
access to curriculum and increase retention and depth of student
learning. Approximately 90 percent also said the arts enhanced learning
for special needs, gifted and talented, economically disadvantaged, and
culturally/linguistically diverse students.
