Advising Information

Mike Matvichuk is the Director of Online Student Communication. Mike is the primary contact person for registration and other administrative issues for students taking online classes. Dr. Maureen Yoder, the Program Director of the Online Technology in Education Program is the primary contact person for academic issues such as course content and grading issues.

Please refer any advising questions you have to both Maureen and Mike.

Suggested Order Of Courses

We suggest that students starting the online program in Technology in Education take ECOMP 5100 and ECOMP 6008. Students currently taking ECOMP 5100 and ECOMP 7007 should continue on with ECOMP 5106 and ECOMP 7100. Please refer to the Program of Study

All of the required courses, and a selection of electives, are offered each semester.

Attendance

The online courses are asynchronous. They do not have scheduled class sessions at specific times. However, they are not completely self-paced and are not independent studies. You will need to check your email and log onto the class Web site several times a week. It is possible to travel and keep up with an online class, but if you know that you are not going to be online for more than five days, please email the instructor of the class and Maureen Yoder, BEFORE you register, and we will help you decide if it is advisable for you to take the class.

Registration/Add Policy

Late Registration begins June 4th, 2008 for the Summer semester.

An online course for Summer 2008 must be registered for or added by the end of Tuesday, June 17th, 2008. If you have financial aid, the appropriate documentation to submit with a registration form is a copy of your award letter or promissory note.

If you have registered once during the semester and would like to add an additional class after the WebReg period, you must complete an Add/Drop form and submit payment or proof of financial aid to add an additional course. You can either mail or fax your Add/Drop Form to the Office of the University Registrar. The fax number is 617.349.8717.

Students from Cohort Group Programs:

Please note: Online courses are primarily offered to students who have been accepted into the Technology in Education Online Degree program. Students who are enrolled in a weekend format Technology in Education program, have missed a class and want to make it up online, must first get prior approval from their program advisor. Please check with Dan Tobin or (617) 349-8343 who will send an email to Mike Matvichuk with a statement of permission.
