Degree Overview
Offered at Lesley's Cambridge campus near Boston, the 12-credit Advanced Professional Certificate in Play Therapy is designed for post-Master's professionals who seek additional treatment-orientated skills. The program provides academic curricula for members of the Association for Play Therapy to become Registered Play Therapists (RPT) and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisors (RPT-S).

Play therapy is a therapeutic intervention that can be utilized by professionals in human services, psychology, special education, expressive therapies, social work, nursing, and other relevant fields. Play therapy clinical practice includes:
- An understanding of lifespan development and psychopathology
- Training in a variety of individual, group, and family play therapies
- Field experience
- Working with children, adults and the elderly
Association for Play Therapy Requirements
- Lesley University's Play Therapy Certificate meets APT academic requirements
- Each student assumes responsibility initiating the APT's certification application
- Lesley's Play Therapy Certificate program does not provide clinical practice or clinical supervision opportunities which are typically completed in each participant's clinical employment setting
