Audubon Expedition Institute - Higher Education's Most Extraordinary Journey

The Audubon Expedition Institute at Lesley University offers an alternative to traditional colleges and universities, including a Gap Year option, for students interested in pursuing a deeper ecological understanding of environmental education, leadership, and advocacy. On this journey of discovery students:
  • Travel throughout the U.S. and various bioregions of the world
  • Study with a close-knit group of faculty and peers
  • Experience the natural environment as their classroom
  • Engage directly with local ecologies, cultures, and economies

Environmental studies that immerse you in the environment

Four academic semesters are spent in the field and the areas that are explored change from year to year. Recent trips have included:
  • Adirondacks
  • Atlantic Coast
  • British Columbia
  • Desert Southwest
  • Gulf of Mexico
  • Hawaii
  • Rio Grande Watershed
  • Southern Appalachias
