Degree Overview
Lesley University's TESOL M.Ed. program prepares teachers to meet the diverse learning needs of the fastest growing group of students in American education, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) students. The program emphasizes:
- Professional knowledge of languages and cultures
- Intercultural communication
- Research-based learning
- Integration of theory with practice
- Technology
- Nondiscriminatory assessment
- Biliteracy
- Collaboration with families and other education professionals
This program, which leads to a Master's degree and eligibility for TESOL Endorsement in New Mexico, is based on the philosophy that being proficient in two or more languages is an important criteria for success in a global world community. It is also based on the premise that every student is entitled to learn from highly qualified teachers.
Courses are offered in a blended cohort format, combining online instruction with locally-based classes that meet no more than one weekend per month.
