Master of education in teaching english to speakers of other languages (tesol)This program is offered in:
The mission of the Lesley University TESOL M.Ed. program is to prepare teachers to become effective, caring, reflective, and proactive in addressing change and innovation to meet the diverse learning needs of the fastest growing group of students in American education, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) students. Professional knowledge of languages and cultures and intercultural communication, research-based learning, integration of theory with practice, technology, nondiscriminatory assessment, biliteracy, and collaboration with families and with other education professionals are some of the highlights of the curriculum. This program, which leads to a Master's degree and eligibility for TESOL Endorsement in New Mexico, is based on the philosophy that being proficient in two or more languages is an asset and an important priority for American education in the global world community. It is also based on the premise that every student is entitled to the most appropriate education with a highly qualified teacher. Courses are offered in a weekend cohort format, with the same group of teachers meeting one weekend per month, on Saturday and Sunday. Some online learning will be offered. updated 08/24/07 | 05:38 PM
