We are pleased to welcome new core faculty member Dr. Jason Butler as coordinator for Drama Therapy in Expressive Therapies.

Dr. Butler brings a wealth of experience in the field, having worked in the Creative Art Therapies department at Concordia University for eight years. He currently serves as President of the North American Drama Therapy Association (NADTA) and as assistant editor for The Arts in Psychotherapy journal.

He is a Registered Drama Therapist, Board Certified Trainer and New York State Licensed Creative Arts Therapist. He is also the training director for DvT Montreal, a satellite of the Institute for Developmental Transformations.

Most recently, Dr. Butler served as the graduate program director for drama therapy and a member of the Arts in Health Research Collective at Concordia University.

He leads Lesley’s renowned Drama Therapy program, which teaches practitioners ways to use improvisation, storytelling, role-play, performance and other dramatic action methods to communicate inner experience, strengthen relationships and promote well-being.

Our graduates serve as licensed mental health counselors and are leaders in the fields of drama therapy, psychodrama, and expressive therapies in settings that include schools, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, community organizations, correctional facilities and private practice.
