LINC LAUNCHES SPRING PROGRAMSLesley's Living and Learning in Neighboring Communities (LINC) student group is holding a food drive of non-perishable products, now through March 14, to benefit the people who use the food pantry at Rosie's Place, a women's shelter in Boston. The staff at Rosie's Place are in desperate need of food goods to replenish their pantry.
The food staples that the pantry needs most include rice, pasta, beans, hot and cold cereals, canned vegetables, and canned tuna and other meats. Additionally, Rosie's Place could use soup, crackers, canned fruit, canned tomato sauce, peanut butter, and jelly.
Students on the meal plan can "share-a-meal" by giving up their dinners on Tuesday nights. Money saved from food costs of the meal goes to Rosie's Place, a shelter for women and children in Boston. Last semester, more than $1,200 was donated.
In addition to the food drive, LINC is beginning a new semester of participation in community service projects, extending from the campus out to the Agassiz neighborhood and other places throughout Cambridge and Boston. LINC is open to all students and many of its projects seek participation of faculty and staff.
To get involved, contact LINC President Isadora Karp at 441-0212, or Advisor Chris Kelly at 349-8505.
